Key Duties and Responsibilities


The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the position and may include, but are not limited to:


· Provides technical oversight for programs of record managed by the Personnel Airdrop Assistant Product Manager. Performs duties as a Military Freefall Jumper and Jumpmaster, Oxygen Technical, and New Equipment Trainer. Maintains and packs parachute systems which include Tactical and Non-Standard parachutes in support of Research and Development, Development Testing, Operational Testing and New Equipment Training. Assists New Equipment Training Teams, coordinates movement of equipment, and schedules meetings and briefings in support of Airdrop programs.


· Participates in the Design Validation, Developmental Test and Operational Test live jumps operations from altitudes up to 25,000 feet MSL. Responsible for documenting and establishing proper inspection procedures, packing techniques, and maintenance requirements for various parachute systems. Must be able to assist Airdrop Engineers in test coordination and airdrop planning to include aircraft scheduling, personnel requirements, weather restrictions drop altitudes, aircraft load planning, and safety briefs. Provides Subject Matter Expertise and assists in development of parachute

Technical Manuals, Letters of Instruction, Programs of Instruction, and training materials for personnel parachutes and associated equipment.

· Serves as a liaison for the Personnel Airdrop Team with the Operational Force providing direct feedback regarding parachute systems and ancillary equipment. Must be capable of maintaining a Class I Flight Physical and High-Altitude Physiological Training Certification. The candidate should be able to work independently or in team assignments, while also being a self-starter and capable of receiving direction.


· Serves as the technical expert representing the Personnel Airdrop Team for parachute malfunctions and incident investigations. Must be capable of communicating highly technical aspects of Personnel Airdrop to leadership that is not well-versed in any aspects of parachute systems and Airdrop Operations.



Education

High School/GED AND 20 years’ experience OR

Associate’s degree AND 16 years’ experience OR

Bachelor in non-Directly related field AND 12 years’ experience


Experience

Minimum of 20 years relevant experience and High School Diploma


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have extensive experience with personnel parachute systems and Airdrop Operations.

U.S. Army Basic Airborne Course

U.S. Army Jumpmaster Course

Military Free Fall Parachutist Course

Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Course

Parachute Rigger Course


Certifications and Licenses

Federal Aviation Administration Senior Rigger (Master Rigger Preferred)


Security Clearance Requirements

Required Clearance: Secret



Travel Requirements

Travel will be a minimum of 25% both CONUS and/or OCONUS

Must have a current U.S. Passport


Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Work may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. The position requires sufficient mobility to perform daily duties safely and efficiently, including bending, reaching, turning, and kneeling. The employee must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds. Depending on parking availability and work location, the position may also require walking moderate to long distances. Additionally, the position requires the individual to be physically capable of conducting Military Airdrop Operations.
