Apprentice – Process Equipment & Installation

ABOUT ARMI

Since 2003, our family-owned business has specialized in process and utility piping, expanding into multiple business units over the years. We now offer nationwide services in Process & Utility Piping, Process Equipment & Installation, Thermal Fluid, and Industrial HVAC. As industry leaders, we maintain elite standards by hiring top talent. ARMI is known for work safety, meeting deadlines, quality production, and staying within budget. We believe in reinvesting in our people and supporting the local community—because we succeed together.

THE ROLE

The Apprentice Millwright earns their place on the crew every day — by doing the hard labor that keeps a project moving, assisting the Millwright at every opportunity, and absorbing the trade knowledge that gets them promoted.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Move, stage, and haul equipment, materials, and tools so the crew always has what it needs, where it needs it.
  • Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe throughout every shift — clear walkways, no scrap piling up.
  • Set up and break down scaffolding, work platforms, ladders, and temporary equipment.
  • Offload and receive trucks, handle paperwork, and stage materials when deliveries arrive.
  • Assist with rigging, leveling, anchoring, and setting equipment under the direction of a Millwright.
  • Support pipe fitting, pipe hanger, and welding tasks — prepping material, purging pipe, maintaining fire watch, and grinding under supervision.
  • Help with wall, ceiling, and roof penetrations, roof curbs, equipment pads, and concrete anchoring as directed.
  • Follow all ARMI and customer safety requirements — hard hat and safety glasses at minimum, every time.

Every opportunity to assist a Millwright is an opportunity to learn. From day one you will start building real trade skills:

  • Reading blueprints, isometric drawings, and equipment installation manuals.
  • Proper rigging techniques, weight awareness, and safe use of rigging hardware.
  • Using laser levels, chalk lines, and machinist levels to position and level equipment to spec.
  • TIG welding fundamentals, conveyor modification, and precision anchoring in food-plant environments.
  • OSHA requirements for catwalks, platforms, and stairways.
  • How a project runs from mobilization to completion — and where you fit in.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to do the hard labor that keeps a project moving.
  • Coachable, dependable, and on time — takes direction well and follows through.
  • Willing to travel and stay out of town for extended periods (per diem provided).
  • Able to lift, carry, climb, and work on your feet in an industrial environment.
  • Eager to learn the Millwright trade and earn promotion. No prior experience required.
  • Strong organizational skills — you manage multiple moving parts without dropping any
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and take ownership without being asked
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
