Position summary 

We are seeking an experienced Rheumatology RN for a newly established Rheumatology clinic in Fayetteville, AR. The RN - Rheumatology is responsible for managing patient care under the direction of providers, supporting patients with chronic autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions. This role focuses on clinical care delivery, patient education, care coordination, and ongoing disease management to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. This position is fully in-person, full-time, Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM


Essential job functions

  • Provide direct nursing care to rheumatology patients, including assessment, triage, and clinical support during visits.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, health histories, and chief complaints using strong clinical judgment and active listening skills.
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatment plans specific to rheumatologic conditions.
  • Administer medications and injections (e.g., biologics, immunosuppressants) safely and according to protocol.
  • Educate patients on chronic disease management, medications, side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Support medication management, including prior authorizations, refills, and patient adherence.
  • Coordinate care across providers, including referrals to specialists, labs, imaging, and infusion services.
  • Monitor patient progress and follow up on labs, diagnostic results, and treatment plans.
  • Triage patient calls, portal messages, and urgent concerns using established protocols and clinical judgment.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow to ensure timely and effective clinic operations.
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, cleaned, and prepared.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements including HIPAA/HITECH, CLIA, HRSA, NCQA PCMH, and OSHA standards.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, particularly related to chronic disease management.
  • Ability to educate patients with varying levels of health literacy on complex medical conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a care team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-ups.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of rheumatologic medications, treatments, and care protocols preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

 

Required qualifications

  • Active RN License 
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • 1+ years of clinical nursing experience in rheumatology, autoimmune disease, or chronic care management

 

Preferred qualifications

  • BSN or MSN
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience in rheumatology, autoimmune disease, or chronic care management
  • Bilingual ability in English and either Spanish or Marshallese
