Birch Agency is currently seeking dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) to join a supportive, student-centered school team in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area. This in-person opportunity allows clinicians to support students from Early Intervention through 12th grade while working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. SLPAs play a vital role in helping students develop communication skills that contribute to academic achievement, social development, and overall success.

Position Overview

The School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct speech-language therapy services and instructional support under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists with implementing treatment plans, documenting student progress, preparing therapy materials, and supporting communication goals in accordance with school, state, and district guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide speech-language therapy services as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist

  • Implement individualized treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising SLP

  • Assist with screenings and data collection related to student communication needs

  • Document student performance and progress during therapy sessions

  • Prepare and organize therapy materials, activities, and equipment

  • Support students with speech, language, articulation, fluency, voice, and social communication goals

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers

  • Maintain accurate and timely service logs, attendance records, and required documentation

  • Communicate appropriately with families and school personnel as directed by the supervising SLP

  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required

  • Adhere to state regulations and district policies regarding SLPA practice and supervision

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field

  • Active North Carolina SLPA License/Registration (required)

  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse communication needs
