Job Purpose
Shop Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of various types of heavy machinery. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.
- Replacing faulty components, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic lines / cylinders.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex machinery malfunctions.
- Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, turbos, and undercarriage components.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.
- Reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.
- Provide technical advice and support to other technicians on proper equipment repair and maintenance.
- Follow safety protocols and learn the importance of maintaining safe working conditions.
- Ensure that equipment is operating according to manufacture standards.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment to correctly write service reports.
- Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Team Leader or Supervisor to support the team.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- At least 5-6 years of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.
