World Vision is seeking a seasoned and mission-driven leader to join our Finance team as a Senior Manager of Accounting and Reporting. In this role, you will lead a critical accounting function that ensures the integrity, accuracy, and stewardship of financial resources that directly support World Vision’s global mission. As a leader within Finance, you will oversee financial reporting, audit readiness, and risk management while developing a high-performing team and driving continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems. Your leadership in this role will directly enable that impact by ensuring strong financial governance, transparency, and operational excellence.

 

AT A GLANCE

Role: Sr. Manager, Accounting  

Reports to: Corporate Controller

Location: Hybrid or Remote with willingness to travel bi-monthly to headquarters in Federal Way, WA.  Preferred candidates are located in the Pacific or Mountain time zones

Travel: up to 25% domestic and international

Required Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in accounting (eight years).

Preferred Experience: IRS regulations and automation tools highly desired

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A for any employer.

THE JOB

Lead the work of accounting and reporting staff to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial and operational reporting and controls in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other regulatory requirements. Manage consultation to internal business customers including risk assessment and development of business solutions aligned with applicable regulations. Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  2. Build, lead and inspire a high-performing team.
    1. Lead, mentor and coach staff to develop subject matter expertise and drive process improvement initiatives, technology implementations, and other automated solutions.
    2. Manage goals, budget, and priorities for the department and monitor performance.
    3. Hire, fire, train, counsel, evaluate, and recommend salary increases and promotions for those under direct supervision.  
  1. Leverage expert knowledge of accounting regulations, industry trends, and best practices to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that ensure accuracy, adequate safeguarding of assets, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  2. Manage month-end close process, oversee general ledger accounting functions (including resolving overdue/unreconciled balances) and ensure timely and accurate financial statement issuance.
  3. Manage and coach team to assess and monitor risk and internal controls within assigned portfolio.  Ensure risks and control gaps are identified and develop recommendations to mitigate, implementing changes as needed.
  4. Manage independent audits.
    • Review and approve audit plans, monitor progress for timely issuance, address auditor questions, and provide documentation as needed. 
    • Develop solutions to address new accounting guidance, recommending changes to policy and process and implementing as required.

  11. Lead complex projects and initiatives for the department including technology implementations/upgrades, financial analysis to support senior management decision-making, and other initiatives with broad organizational impact.
  12. Develop and lead education, training, and client service to various areas of World Vision on financial policies, procedures, tools and systems.
  13. Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
  14. Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to develop and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  •  Proven ability to lead financial reporting, audit processes, and internal controls in complex environments.
  •  Experience translating complex financial information into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, including process improvements and technology implementations.
  •  Strong communication skills and executive presence.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages a team of 5 or more direct reports.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in accounting (eight years). Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 8 years of professional private/corporate accounting experience or equivalent, such as 5 years where experience includes at least 2 years in public accounting.  At least two years of previous experience leading teams required.  Work experience in public accounting firm or nonprofit organization with knowledge of Uniform Guidance, IRS regulations and automation tools highly desired. 

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

WVUS Pay Grade Level: 227

Estimated hiring range: $96,500 - $137,030
