What You'll Do
- Pack, seal, label and affix proper postage to items being shipped; these actions may require the use of hand tools, power tools, postage meter, computer and other similar devices.
- Examine contents and compares with records (such as manifests or orders) to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages & discrepancies, for record-keeping purposes
- Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, route and rates
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instruction for shipping and delivery of materials
- Pull shipment from pick ticket
- Communicate with established representatives to resolve problems such as damages, shortages, nonconformance to specifications
- Deliver or route materials to departments using work devices such as hand-truck conveyor, sorting bins or fork truck as needed
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counting as assigned
- Cross train to work in all areas of the distribution process
What You'll Need
- High school diploma required
- Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment and understanding of general manufacturing process and flows, preferred
- Must exhibit a strong attention to detail, positive attitude, team spirit, and a willingness to learn
- Must complete forklift training and certification
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel or crouch for long periods of time, lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, pull, walk, stretch, reach or lift over head
