Westtown School seeks an experienced full-time Prep Cook to join our Dining Services Team.
Westtown Dining Services is a fast-paced, whole-ingredient, cooking-from-scratch kitchen that prepares 1,200 meals daily, plus full-service catering and special-event support.Â
This role supports upholding high standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation, with an emphasis on menu appeal, variety, and nutritional balance. The Prep Cook maintains rigorous standards of sanitation, food safety, and kitchen organization. The typical hours will be a combination of 11:30-8:00 pm and 6:30 am-3:00 pm, with some weekend work required. Full-time employees are eligible for health, dental, and life insurance benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, 403b retirement contributions, and tuition remission.

Essential Responsibilities
Assists with meal preparation and supports the work of the dining services department;Â
Collaborates with the student work program;
Assists with food set-up and closing responsibilities according to the Assistant Kitchen Manager’s specifications;Â
Provides friendly, efficient, and helpful service;
Performs food replenishment and displays food items;
Follows wrap, label, and date procedures for all food items;
Maintains a clean and orderly work area and completes daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by the Assistant Kitchen Manager;
Follows proper food handling practices and other departmental procedures;
Notifies managers of all maintenance and safety issues;
Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;
Reports all accidents to the Kitchen Manager immediately;
Works efficiently and collaboratively with other team members;
Participates in departmental meetings and all necessary training;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School diploma, or equivalent, is required
Some prior food service experience is preferred
Experience in a customer service position is highly desirable
Must have a valid Driver’s LicenseÂ
A team-oriented spirit and the desire to work in a team environment
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 lbs regularly using proper moving and lifting procedures
Able to stand, walk, sit, and climbÂ
Able to push and pull heavy loads
Able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
