Reports To: Site Supervisor/Manager
Position Summary
The Operator safely performs facility operations, including loading/unloading bulk liquid and dry products, equipment operation, and railcar cleaning and inspection. This role is cross-trained in railcar cleaning and the safe operation, care, and maintenance of related equipment while maintaining Tactical Cleaning’s safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
- Load and unload bulk liquid and dry materials between trucks, railcars, and storage.
- Operate transloaders, pumps, steam units, power washers, compressors, engines, valves, and related equipment.
- Clean and inspect railcars to customer, FRA, AAR, and company standards.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and inspections.
- Complete required checklists, permits, QA/QC documentation, photos, and reports.
- Properly handle and dispose of materials in accordance with EPA requirements.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
- Follow production schedules, safety procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment, railroad tracks, and railcars.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, work at heights/confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs. overhead regularly.
- Willingness to wear required PPE, including respirators and protective clothing.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to complete required safety and OSHA training, including HAZWOPER and confined-space training.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass required physical, drug/alcohol screening, respiratory wellness, and respirator fit testing.
- Ability to work overtime and travel approximately 30%, including occasional overnight stays.
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Six months of transloading, freight/tank car, heavy equipment, construction, cleaning, or repair experience preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
