Job DetailsJob Location: Fife, WA 98424Salary Range: $20.00 - $27.00 HourlyAs a Paint Prepper at the Scharmach Automotive Group Collision Center, you will play a critical role in the refinishing process by preparing vehicles and components for paint. Your work directly impacts the quality and appearance of every repair, helping us deliver factory-quality results and an exceptional customer experience. Pay range is $20.00 to $27.00 an hour Key Responsibilities Prepare vehicles and replacement parts for refinishing by washing, cleaning, sanding, masking, feather-edging, and priming surfaces. Remove and reinstall trim, moldings, lights, and other components as needed to ensure proper paint coverage. Perform final cleaning and tack-off procedures before vehicles enter the paint booth. Mix primers and prepare repair areas according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect repair areas for imperfections and communicate any concerns with the painter or production team before paint application. Assist painters with moving vehicles and preparing materials to maintain an efficient workflow. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint department, prep areas, and equipment. Follow OEM repair procedures and all safety and environmental regulations. Properly handle and dispose of paint-related materials in accordance with shop and regulatory guidelines. Keep accurate records of materials used and time spent on repairs. Work closely with estimators, technicians, and painters to ensure repairs are completed on schedule and meet the highest quality standards. Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in automotive paint preparation, detailing, or collision repair preferred. Knowledge of sanding techniques, masking procedures, primers, and surface preparation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to follow repair procedures and work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending, standing, and reaching throughout the day. Valid Washington State driver's license with a clean driving record. I-CAR training or collision repair certifications are a plus but not required.
