Job Title: Operations Manager
Peak Thermo King is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our shop in Seattle, Washington. The Operations Manager is charged to manage the shop, repairs, installations, and daily workflow for 20-25 service employees and parts staff. The individual will reinforce a culture that promotes safety, customer service, accountability, teamwork, quality, and continuous learning and improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Director of Operations.
Responsibilities: Â
- Foster a culture of teamwork and safety at all times and with all employees.
- Develop, analyze, and review a variety of production reports to daily manage and improve employee utilization, efficiency, and productivity.
- Drive daily production through the shop by planning for and allocating proper resources to match required shop output.
- Supervise staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, and providing compensation recommendations to manager.
- Monitor production operating data and financial performance to drive continuous improvement in service efficiency and contribution to company goals.
- Be a member of the site management team to provide recommendations for growth and general business development.
- Identify revenue growth opportunities, and provide yearly recommendations for service department pricing based on market locally and regionally.
- Work with customers and technical experts to resolve customer support complaints in a manner satisfactory to the customer and the company.
- Schedule and supervise the deployment of mobile technicians.
- Drive location service efficiency and productivity improvements.
- Assist with new business developmentÂ
- Immediately greet customers in a professional manner and obtain repair information.
- Ensures customer’s repair complaints clearly documented on work orders.
- Respectfully advises customers on the proper care of their equipment including the value of maintaining proper maintenance in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for all labor and parts.
- Recommends additional needed and value-added service based upon service history and equipment inspection.
- Periodically checks on the progress of the repair throughout the day, and promptly contacts the customer regarding any changes in the promised time, explains cost and time requirements, and gets proper authorization before performing any additional repairs.
- Follow through by ensuring each customer receives a thorough explanation of all completed work and charges.
- Works with the Technicians and the Parts Department to make sure the communication on the repair is being managed properly.
- Customer interaction, answering phones, answering questions, finalizing sale.
- Ensure that all branch transfers are processed correctly. This includes parts shipped from other locations.
- Invoicing and payment processing.
- Enter and ensure all payroll is correct, maintain a vacation balance sheet on ADP and enter vacation time to be paid, if available.
- Reading reports and collecting information for accounts receivable.
- Monitor office/shop cleanliness.
Requirements:Â
- Operations management within the transportation or construction industry.
- 5+ years of experience managing people in a shop environment, including recruiting and development of technicians and support staff.
- Demonstrated success in continuous improvement activities and Lean concepts.
- Excellent general computer and Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Proven ability to develop and manage positive customer experiences.
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in technical or business-related field preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to foster loyalty, cooperation, and communication among functional teams (Sales, Finance, Parts, Management) and employees.
