Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a seasonal Sanitation Recycling Technician to execute all sanitation and janitorial related duties and tasks throughout the plant as assigned under direct supervision of the responsible department Manager or Sanitation Lead. This role will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Recycling Area, including collection and movement of recyclable materials out of the facility, properly maintaining processing equipment, and maintenance of the area located within the Recycling Area at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collects, sorts and properly disposes of recyclable materials, including metals, wood, paper, plastic and other materials into appropriate containers.
  • Loads and unloads recyclables on trucks, trailers and compactors or other equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operates forklifts pallet jacks, power lifts and other equipment to transport recyclables
  • Cleans and organizes materials as necessary for recycling requirements.
  • Monitors the mechanical condition of recycling equipment and performs equipment lubrication and housekeeping routines.

 

Requirements: 

  • Requires High school diploma or equivalent and a California driver’s license.
  • Forklift Certification required; one year of experience operating a forklift, preferably in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and to work in a fast-paced food manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
