The Operations Engineering team supports both new product manufacturing and continuous improvement of existing production processes. This role is highly focused on hands-on manufacturing engineering and daily support of production operations.

The Manufacturing Engineer will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, working closely with operators and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve processes, and ensure reliable production performance. This individual will also support small to mid-sized capital projects, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide daily, hands-on support to production lines, working directly with operators and maintenance to resolve equipment and process issues
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems, tooling, and equipment to minimize downtime and restore production quickly
  • Serve as a key resource for real-time problem solving on the manufacturing floor

Equipment & Mechanical Systems Ownership

  • Support the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems
  • Design, modify, or source fixtures, tooling, and equipment improvements to enhance safety, ergonomics, and efficiency
  • Partner with maintenance to identify root causes of failures and implement long-term corrective actions

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvements to reduce downtime, improve throughput, and lower production costs
  • Apply practical Lean and continuous improvement principles to optimize processes
  • Identify and eliminate non-value-added activities within manufacturing operations

 

Capital Projects & Equipment Improvements

  • Support and lead smaller-scale capital projects (typically under $1M), including equipment upgrades, line improvements, and process changes
  • Assist with installation, validation, and ramp-up of equipment and process improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and implement solutions
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring designs can be effectively manufactured
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to drive alignment and timely execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical strongly preferred) or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working directly on the manufacturing floor with operators and maintenance teams
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, or automation systems
  • Exposure to capital projects or equipment upgrades
  • Background in metal stamping, fabrication, or assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • CAD experience (interpretation required; design experience is a plus)

Work Environment

  • Approximately 70% of time on the manufacturing floor, 30% at a workstation
  • Occasional overtime may be required to support production needs
  • Minimal travel (<5%)
