Job Description

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Senior Staff Cloud Architect to join our ambitious team at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. This role offers the outstanding opportunity to lead the design and development of world-class cloud infrastructure for our groundbreaking projects. You will play a pivotal role in crafting secure, scalable, and compliant data services that drive innovation in our engineering endeavors.Ā 

Key ResponsibilitiesĀ 

  • Define the end-to-end cloud architecture, ensuring a secure and modular platform capable of flawless performance.Ā 

  • Lead the implementation of event-driven, serverless, and containerized services using leading cloud providers such as AWS and/or Azure.Ā 

  • Develop andĀ maintainĀ infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, ensuring scalable and repeatable deployments.Ā 

  • Collaborate with software engineers, interoperability teams, and security experts to support microservices, APIs, and IAM protocols.Ā 

  • Drive architectural decisions that strictly adhere to complianceĀ standardsĀ including HIPAA, GDPR, CLIA, and FDA/IVDR.Ā 

  • Implement monitoring, cost optimization, CI/CD pipelines, andĀ DevSecOpsĀ standard methodologies to ensure seamless operations.Ā 

  • Mentor and guide engineering teams,Ā participateĀ in design reviews, and contribute to long-term platform planning.Ā 

QualificationsĀ 

  • Bachelor’s orĀ Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, orĀ a relatedĀ technical field.Ā 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems architecture, or enterprise technology environments.

  • 7+ years of proven experience in cloud-native application architecture and deployment.Ā 

  • DeepĀ expertiseĀ in AWS and/or Azure, withĀ strongĀ command of networking, identity, containerization, and serverless infrastructure.Ā 

  • Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD and DevOps practices using tools like GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).Ā 

  • Prior hands-on development experience with C#, ASP.NET/.NET Core, and SQL Server strongly preferred. Must have AWS Solution Architecture experience; AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification is a plus.

  • Experience in regulated environments such as healthcare or diagnostics is preferred.Ā 

  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.Ā 

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United StatesĀ withoutĀ sponsorship.Ā 

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, whichĀ includes a drug screening.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Indiana is $135,800.00–$203,750.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
