Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Dosimetrist for our busy Radiation Department. The Dosimetrist is responsible to chart radiation treatment plans, determine treatment dimensions, and promote the implementation of the treatment plans for radiation therapy patients. Perform and participate in the simulation, dose computations, isodose plans, immobilization and other aspects of treatment planning for patients receiving external beam radiation therapy, and interstitial brachytherapy at the facility. 

Travel is required to any location that provides radiation services to our patients. 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of the simulator and treatment planning functions as carried out by the radiation therapists to ensure provision of safe, accurate and quality radiation therapy as they may apply to dosimetric functions.
  • Work closely with the Radiation Oncologists and radiation physicist in planning the course of radiation therapy by performing radiation dose distributions, dosage calculations and constructing treatment devices.
  • Thoroughly familiar with the physical and geometric characteristics of the radiation equipment and radioactive sources.
  • Assist in localization procedures, using CT or conventional radiographic techniques.
  • Obtain patient contours and assist in outlining of anatomical structures and the target volume in three dimensions.
  • Collaborate with physician to plan radiation treatments.
  • Determine required treatment time or monitor settings for delivery of prescribed dose.
  • Prepare treatment aids and beam modifying devices, including head holders, molds, shields, cradles, compensators, and others as needed.
  • Perform verification of treatment plans through treatment simulation using CT or conventional radiographic techniques.  Assist the therapist staff in the implementation of treatment plans.
  • Perform record keeping and documentation of treatment parameters for all patients undergoing radiation therapy.
  • Maintain inventory of radioactive substances.
  • Responsible for entry of treatment parameters in the record/verify system.
  • Perform routine quality control program to include weekly chart checks, chart rounds, etc.
  • Provide education and treatment-planning instruction to staff and students as required.
  • Participate in clinical research for the development and implementation of new treatment techniques.
  • Observes all safety and health regulations and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Performs work in accordance with policies, procedures and standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of 3D Treatment Planning, Isodose Planning, Irregular Field dose calculations and simple dose calculations.  
  • Knowledge of IMRT Treatment Planning and CT Simulation preferred

Full time position

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Dosimetry
  • One year experience as a Jr. Dosimetrist and Certified Medical Dosimetrist Licensure

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist Licensure from State of Florida

Compensation and Benefits:
