The Willows (Fletcher, NC) at Red Oak Recovery is accepting applications for Behavior Health Technicians. We are a clinically dynamic, trauma intensive substance abuse and mental health treatment program designed specifically to meet the needs of adult women. Our focus is on clinical care, and we utilize the latest research-supported clinical modalities to ensure positive outcomes. BHTs work with clients daily to support them as they follow their individual treatment plan. Each of our clients are unique and therefore no day at The Willows will look the same. The Willows teaches many skills that BHTs use to guide our clients through the program every step of the way. BHTs might attend groups, take clients to appointments, or even go camping with our clients!


About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients within a specialized healthcare setting. This position involves direct patient care, assisting with clinical assessments, and implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals. The technician is responsible for managing crisis situations effectively, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating therapeutic interventions tailored to individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED). Accurate clinical documentation and maintaining comprehensive discharge plans are essential to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare standards. Ultimately, this role contributes to improving patient outcomes by providing compassionate, skilled support in a structured behavioral health environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Certification or training in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related area.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, preferably in a clinical or residential setting.
  • Ability to maintain detailed clinical documentation and follow established protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience specifically with serious emotional disturbances (SED) populations.
  • Formal training or certification in crisis management and clinical assessments.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare documentation software.
  • Additional education or certification in mental health or behavioral health fields.
  • Experience working in women’s health or specialized behavioral health facilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health needs, including those with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
  • Assist in conducting clinical assessments and participate in the development and implementation of individualized treatment and discharge plans.
  • Manage crisis situations through timely intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.

Mental health knowledge supports compassionate and informed patient care, allowing the technician to understand and address complex emotional and behavioral needs.
