Services we provide

Spectrum Child and Family Services supports our community’s children and teens that are delinquent, have been neglected/abused or abandoned; are medically fragile, multiple handicapped, dual diagnosed, and behaviorally and/or emotionally impaired. Our programs support a population with constantly changing needs and our goal is to strengthen and empower the families, so they become self-sufficient, stable, and competent.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction of the Program Director, the Family Skills Worker provides needed and appropriate intensive, concrete services to children and their families involved in the Family Skills Program.  The Family Skills Worker coordinates the delivery of services as required by State of Michigan Law and applicable service standards for the purpose of increasing h family's ability to function successfully in its community.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree in the human services field, i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Family ecology, consumer/community services, family and/or child development, Guidance and Counseling or Criminal Justice.
     
  • Experience:  One year of directly related service area of parenting, child development or prevention services

 

  • Skills:  Social Work practice skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills, conflict resolution skills, computer skills, and documentation skills.
     
  • Knowledge:  strengths-based family work, solution focused treatment, wrap around process, child development, child welfare laws, community resources. Training in Bavolek Nurturing Parent Model preferred.

 

  • Transportation:  Reliable and ongoing as required to make home visits and provide transportation to youth and families, valid un-restricted driver's license, good driving record, proof of vehicle insurance coverage on vehicle used for transporting youth and families.

 

  • Other: State of Michigan Licensing Requirements: Satisfactory DHS Central Registry Clearance, ICHAT, National and State Sex Offender Registry check and State Police Record Check, negative TB Test, satisfactory physical exam.
