General Function: The Hiring and Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for leading the YMCA of Greater Flint's recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts. This position plays a critical role in attracting, selecting, and successfully integrating talented employees who support the YMCA's mission and values. The coordinator collaborates with leadership to identify staffing needs, manage recruitment strategies, facilitate new hire onboarding, and ensure compliance with employment requirements.聽


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Recruitment & Hiring

路 Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.

路 Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, application screening, interview coordination, and candidate communications.

路 Lead hiring efforts for seasonal and year-round positions, with a priority focus on summer staffing needs.

路 Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment screenings.


Onboarding & New Employee Experience

路 Serve as the primary point of contact for all onboarding-related questions and support.聽

路 Coordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding to ensure a welcoming and effective transition into the organization.聽

路 Prepare and process new hire documentation, including I-9s, employment forms, background check authorizations, and personnel files.聽

路 Ensure personnel files remain accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational and regulatory requirements.聽

路 Ensure new and existing employees complete all required onboarding and compliance training,

路 Conduct new employee orientations.

Risk Management Responsibilities:

  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.聽
  • Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.聽
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with children.聽
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.聽
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization鈥檚 progressive disciplinary procedures.聽
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.聽
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.聽
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization鈥檚 commitment to protect their children from abuse.聽
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.聽
  • Utilize various sources of information to ensure compliance with abuse prevention standards聽

Requirements

Entry Requirements: High School Diploma required; college degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, onboarding, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. 聽聽
