 POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our Behavioral Health Urgent Care team for a part-time night shift position. Initially, the chosen candidate will undergo training during daytime hours, working three 8-hour shifts, 24 hours per week from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. After the training period, this position will move to two 12-hr shifts, 24 hours a week, working 8:00 pm - 8:30 am.

In addition to the $3,750 signing bonus, this position will also receive an 8% premium for working third shift.

General Statement:


Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer or designee, performs evaluations, diagnoses, ongoing assessments, and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and/or developmental disabilities. Identifies client needs, makes treatment plans and referrals, and provides medication management and psycho-educational support in collaboration with existing medical staff and program; performs related work as required

Educational Requirements

License Requirements

Master’s degree. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner that is dual certified (mental health and medical).

Fully licensed in the State of Michigan as a Physician Assistant or dual certified Nurse Practitioner, has Michigan Controlled Substance License, Current DEA license, & Current MCCPA (PA) or ANCC (NP) certification. 

 

Additional Requirements:


Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and the use of a vehicle during work hours. May have to work holidays, nights and weekends 


Preferences:


Three (3) years’ experience working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (dual certified) AND three (3) years clinical experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, including assessment, medication management, and crisis intervention in the outpatient or inpatient setting. 

Experience working as a certified Physician Assistant in collaboration with a psychiatrist. 


Essential Physical Demands:


  • Vision – Position requires the ability to visually assess details at both near and far distances, as well as to perceive depth and spatial relationships with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Hearing – Position requires the ability to receive and respond to verbal communication with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Lifting, Standing, and Walking With or Without Reasonable Accommodations:
    • Position requires the ability to lift up to 35lbs on an occasional basis
    • Position requires the ability to regularly stand for extended periods of time
    • Position requires the ability to walk at a minimum of 35% up to a maximum of 65%
  • Position will require the ability to occasionally stoop, bend, or reach to perform work tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.

Position must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including the use of hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, writing, or operating equipment with or without reasonable accommodation
