Responsibilities:

Job Summary: The role of Pathologist Assistant is an integral and highly skilled position within the medical field. A Pathologist Assistant performs tasks crucial to the accurate and timely diagnosis of diseases, working under the supervision of a pathologist. This profession demands meticulous attention to detail, profound knowledge of human anatomy and pathology, and the ability to operate sophisticated laboratory equipment. 

 

  1. Conducting gross examination, dissection, and dictation of all surgical specimens, including complex cases.

  2. Preparing tissues for histopathology processing.

  3. Assisting in the preparation of frozen sections during intraoperative consultations.

  4. Recording and analyzing patient medical histories and clinical findings.

  5. Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment.

  6. Ensuring accurate labeling and documentation of specimens.

  7. Collaborating with pathologists and other medical professionals.

  8. Supervising and training laboratory personnel.

  9. Complying with safety and quality control standards.

  10. Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a pathology lab or hospital setting.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.

  • Eligibility to obtain professional certification (ASCP preferred).

  • Knowledge of anatomy, clinical pathology, and laboratory procedures.

  • Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and software.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
