Electrical Engineer II

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

To support design, specification, installation and commissioning of equipment for plant capital projects. To support the maintenance, reliability and operation of all plant electrical power systems, process control instruments and process control systems.

 

This position is located in Florence, CO. Relocation asssistance is available.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Supervise and lead a team of electrical technicians dedicated to supporting, maintaining, and improving plant operations.
  • Participate in the creation of preventative maintenance routines (PMRs) and bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical equipment.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of plant electrical systems and troubleshooting of electrical and control system problems.
  • Prepare engineering scope of work for plant electrical projects.
  • Interface with contractors utilized in project work, including solicitation of quotes, selection and field direction.
  • Prepare cost estimates and justifications for the capital plan.
  • Conduct economic and operation feasibility studies on proposed electrical modifications and additions.
  • Maintain a standard set of specifications for consistent application related to modifications or additions.
  • Maintain, organize, prepare, review and revise drawings as required.
  • Develop detailed preventative maintenance routines for all plant electrical equipment.
  • Research/recommend new PM procedures based on newly developed technologies.
  • Use SAP to purchase parts and services, review work orders, analyses reports, and manage capital projects related to electrical project management and PM development.
  • Assist with scheduling and preparation of planned electrical activities that will be executed by employees, service companies or contractors.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 
  • Works closely with equipment suppliers, plant staff, and process area teams to ensure the successful operation of the plant.

 

 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree Preferred)

Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering

Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the cement industry

Required Technical Skills:

  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC systems
  • Experience with motors, transformers, starters, protection devices, MCS, VFD, etc.
  • Participate in lead RCAs for recurring failures
  • Use of test equipment

Travel Requirements: 10% Regional Travel Required 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems is preferred (ControlLogix, PLC-5 and SLC 500). Experience in communication networks (Modbus, Modbus Plus, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
