Job Title: Field Service Technician – Quarry Equipment
Job Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment used in quarry and aggregate operations. This position requires travel to customer sites to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The technician serves as a key representative of the company by providing exceptional customer service while minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screeners, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and related quarry machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service on customer equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel engine, and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical drawings.
- Install, replace, and adjust components such as bearings, belts, pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, and electrical controls.
- Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to identify equipment failures.
- Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status, repair recommendations, and maintenance schedules.
- Follow all OSHA, MSHA, and company safety procedures while working in quarry environments.
- Participate in emergency breakdown calls and provide after-hours support as required.
- Assist with equipment commissioning, startup, and operator training when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 3+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, mining equipment, or quarry equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues independently.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
- CDL is a plus.
Required Skills

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, dust, vibration, and noise.
- Ability to work at heights and around heavy machinery.
- Travel to customer sites, including overnight travel when required.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor quarry and mining environments.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, vibration, and loud equipment.
- Occasional overtime, weekends, and on-call work to support customer operations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with aggregate, mining, or quarry equipment.
- Familiarity with equipment manufacturers such as Metso, Sandvik, Astec, Superior Industries, Terex, McCloskey, Kleemann, Komatsu, Deere, and Caterpillar.
