Mobility Coach - Day Hospital/Outpatient Surgery-Full-time (11a-11p)

Responsibilities:

Job Summary: The mobility coach technician will provide assistance to post-operative surgical patients who are in their initial recovery with special focus on total joint replacements. These patients have a variety of needs, but a goal for all patients is safe ambulation. The technician will assist nurses with a variety of tasks such as preparing the rooms, gathering supplies, collaborating with healthcare professionals, ambulating patients, and preparing for a safe discharge.

  1. Assists clinicians with patient treatment under direct supervision of the appropriate licensed personnel.

  2. Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of shared equipment such as walkers and gait belts according to hospital policy.

  3. Ensures adequate supplies and equipment are ready before entering patient room.

  4. Collaborates with the clinicians to assess patient readiness for mobility.

  5. Follows Extended Recovery Standard Workflow to prepare the patient for discharge.

  6. Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect everyone involved.

  7. Assists with various patient transfer and gait activities.

  8. Perform assistive device and brace fitting and provide other patient/family education as needed.

  9. Other duties as assigned.
