Physician Liaison – McLeod Health

Job Summary

McLeod Health is seeking a dynamic and relationship-focused Physician Liaison to support the growth and success of our healthcare network by strengthening partnerships with referring providers and healthcare professionals. Serving as the primary point of contact within an assigned geographic territory, the Physician Liaison will cultivate provider relationships, improve communication, streamline referral processes, and enhance patient access to McLeod Health services. This position plays a critical role in supporting market growth, provider satisfaction, and continuity of patient care. This aligns with the internal Physician Liaison role description used by McLeod Health. 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute strategic provider outreach plans based on market and referral data to strengthen relationships and increase referral volume.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians, advanced practice providers, and office staff throughout the assigned territory.
  • Identify and address barriers to accessing McLeod Health services and work collaboratively to improve referral processes.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for providers by communicating information about McLeod Health programs, services, specialists, and access points.
  • Facilitate communication between referring providers and McLeod Health departments to improve provider satisfaction and patient experience.
  • Assist providers with obtaining timely follow-up information regarding patient care and treatment plans.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of McLeod Health's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and referral workflows.
  • Monitor provider feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Submit weekly activity reports detailing provider visits, outreach efforts, referral trends, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Attend Medical Staff meetings, networking functions, community events, and other after-hours activities as needed.
  • Represent McLeod Health in a professional manner while promoting the organization's mission, values, and services.

 

Work Schedule

  • Full Time – 80 Hours Biweekly

 

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare, physician relations, business development, sales, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with physician practices, healthcare systems, referral management, or provider networks is highly desirable.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and healthcare technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, provider networks, referral processes, and healthcare market dynamics preferred.
