Job Summary:

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Registered Cardiac Sonographer for our Heart & Vascular Unit located within the Edgewood Hospital.

Job Description:

This role is responsible for performing comprehensive cardiac ultrasound studies in accordance with American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and IAC standards to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. The position evaluates cardiac anatomy and function, including detailed assessment of heart valves and chambers, and provides preliminary findings regarding normal and abnormal results, valve performance, and chamber pressures. Additional responsibilities include reviewing patient histories to assess cardiac health, maintaining quality assurance standards for imaging studies and equipment, notifying cardiologists of urgent or emergent findings, and ensuring accurate documentation and distribution of completed studies. The role also supports the education of cardiovascular trainees, participates in continuing education to maintain clinical expertise, and contributes to high-quality patient care through accurate, timely, and professional diagnostic services.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:  
  • Graduate of an accredited (or accreditation eligible) cardiovascular ultrasound degree program and/or qualifying experience in accordance with IAC guidelines.
  • Registered in non-invasive imaging with active status registry from ARDMS or CCI. New graduates will have 1 year after graduating to obtain registry.

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Advance use of Doppler-continuous wave, pulse, color flow.  Ability to provide professional preliminary reports.
