ABOUT ASARCO GRUPO MEXICO 

ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across 4 sites in Arizona. 

We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Mapping and documenting current-state processes for receiving, material put-away, and material issuance.
  • Developing standardized workflows for discrepancy identification and resolution (quantity, part number, and documentation variances).
  • Supporting inventory control processes, including cycle counts, monitoring practices, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Documenting equipment usage controls, including task lists, inspection routines, and operational compliance checkpoints.
  • Assisting in the standardization of SAP transactional processes related to goods receipt, transfers, material issues, and inventory adjustments.
  • Identifying process gaps and supporting the implementation of structured, auditable procedures aligned with operational and internal control requirements.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.  
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level. 
  • Must be majoring in Industrial Engineering, logistics, supply chain, warehouse management, or related discipline. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.  
  • Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products. 
  • English language fluency. 
  • At least CEFR B2 - Upper Intermediate: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
