Job DetailsJob Location: CMMC South Campus - Floresville, TX 78114Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Admin - ClericalSummary The medical coder is responsible for evaluating medical records documentation, coding all diagnosis and procedures for claim data entry.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet our department productivity standards.   Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practice Familiarity with ICD-10 codes, CPT/HCPCS coding Ensure correct coding compliance for procedures performed for various specialties Work in high volume medical coding environment while maintaining exceptional standards of excellence Relays any necessary information to appropriate clinic staff and providers Participates in educational activities and reports needed information to Manager and Providers Maintains expert knowledge of coding workflow and optimizes use of available technology Responsible for helping review insurance denials related to any coding issues Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is accurate and precise Collaborates with Clinic Manager, Providers and Business Office Manager to ensure claims are satisfied timely. Qualifications  Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   Must work well in a team environment Ability to communicate well with other team members in a courteous manner Protect PHI and follow HIPPA guidelines Required to meet department quality and production standards Maintaining and satisfying minimum attendance requirements is an essential function of this position including working full-time regular hours as established.   Certificates, Licenses, Registrations   Equivalent to an associate's degree in medical information technology (with course work in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, ICD 9 CM coding and prospective payment) required.
