Job Summary
The Extended Care Aide supports the school's Extended Care Program by providing supervision, care, and enrichment opportunities for students before and/or after the regular school day. The Extended Care Aide helps create a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment where students can learn, play, and grow while supporting the mission and values of Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise students during extended care hours and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Monitor student behavior and promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Assist students with homework and academic activities as appropriate.
- Organize and participate in age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in, and sign-out records.
- Verify authorized pick-up procedures and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
- Assist with snack distribution and monitor students during snack time.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces.
- Follow school safety policies and emergency procedures.
- Report accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or other incidents to the Extended Care Director or school administration.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to support student success.
- Support and model Catholic values and Christian behavior in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Extended Care Director, or school administration.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of school-aged children.
- Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
