The Springfield YMCA is seeking a hands-on, motivated leader to help oversee the daily maintenance and cleanliness of our facility.  In addition, this role will ensure a high standard of safety and customer service.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides a clean and safe facility by performing assigned duties.  Perform maintenance functions as well as housekeeping duties. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.    Follows opening and closing procedures and maintains a visible presence in the facility on shift, serving as department supervisor in the absence of direct supervisor. 

2.    Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance to include, but not limited to: electrical, plumbing and mechanical system repairs, maintain lighting systems, building repairs and carpentry.

3.    Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.  May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.

4.    Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.

5.    Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.

6.    Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

7.    Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.

8.    Sets up furniture/equipment according to daily schedule for events.

9.    Supports on-boarding process and leadership of Housekeeping and Maintenance staff.

10.    Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.

11.    Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.

12.    Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.    Minimum age of 21.

2.    High school diploma or equivalent.

3.    1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

4.    Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 30 days of hire.  

5.    Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

6.    Ability to report and record maintenance requests.

7.    Three or more years of related experience and one year of supervisory experience required.

8.    Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.

9.    Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.

10.    Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

11.    Strong mechanical ability.

12.    Completion of required trainings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1.    Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.

2.    Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.

3.    Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.

4.    Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.

5.    Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.

6.    Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
