Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking a Team Lead, Server Engineering who can plan and design enterprise architecture infrastructure.  This senior level information technology professional is a true hybrid - leader, architect and subject matter expert. They bridge the gap between business strategy and hands-on technical implementation, overseeing the design, deployment and management of large-scale server, storage and virtualization environments.

If you are a Server Engineer who specializes in Windows Operating Systems, supporting server related infrastructure and software, BCBSMS is looking for you! 

As a leader of the Server Engineering Team, this position is responsible for the research, planning and implementation of new systems while supporting existing systems. Technology projects led by this Server Systems Engineer involve servers, storage area network (SAN), monitoring, patching, cloud and server infrastructure. This role ensures high availability and security of all corporate server systems as tasks are automated, security patches are applied, and virtual technologies are configured to maintain optimal performance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assigns tasks/projects to team members, providing technical guidance as needed and appropriate training as required.

  • Develop project plans to prioritize tasks and resources, provide accountability associated with projects to ensure projects are well planned and communicated.

  • Leverage the technical expertise of the team to develop recommendations for system enhancements to improve the technological environment.

  • Manages the performance of assigned technology environments, monitoring the systems to identify any issues while assisting with problem diagnosis, resolving issues and installing preventative software.

  • Leads semi-annual business recovery testing along with researching and planning activities related to business recovery testing improvements.

The Team Lead, Server Engineering brings strong leadership skills to create a climate where team members want to do their best. With a business consultant mindset, this Team Lead translates organizational goals into technical requirements, assessing and selecting the best technologies to bridge gaps between current and future state.  As emotionally intelligent individuals, they negotiate mutually acceptable solutions for team members, stakeholders and vendors, focusing on common ground and optimal outcomes.

This Position Requires:

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science, math, related field or equivalent experience.

  • Eight years' experience supporting server related infrastructure and software.

  • Eight years' experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.

  • Expert knowledge in Windows and Linux operating systems with an inherent knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Ability to plan and design infrastructure from an enterprise architecture perspective with comprehensive understanding of network, security and cloud technologies.

  • Ability to automate tasks via PowerShell or other tools and identify additional opportunities for automation.

  • Skilled at gathering data relevant to technologies utilized by the team, interpreting findings and producing analytical reports.

  • Capacity to act as 24x7 escalation point for alerts/problems and availability to provide 24x7 support in after-hours, weekend and holiday support.
