Overview

We are looking for a skilled HVAC-Certified In-House Maintenance Technician to join our restaurant team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the HVAC systems, refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment essential to our restaurant operations. Your expertise will help ensure a comfortable environment for both staff and guests while supporting the smooth functioning of our facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain commercial HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-in units, ice machines, and other commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls involving loss of heating, cooling, or refrigeration.
  • Perform general maintenance and minor repairs involving electrical, plumbing, lighting, doors, fixtures, and restaurant equipment.
  • Complete scheduled preventive-maintenance inspections at assigned locations.
  • Identify potential equipment failures and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
  • Prioritize work orders based on safety, operational impact, food-safety concerns, and urgency.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts, labor, and completed work orders.
  • Communicate repair status, equipment conditions, and expected completion times to restaurant and company leadership.
  • Purchase and maintain approved parts, tools, supplies, and equipment while following company procedures.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors when repairs require specialized services or additional support.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards, manufacturer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and assigned equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Protect company property and maintain a professional appearance and conduct while working in restaurant locations.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • HVAC certification from an accredited technical or vocational program.
  • At least three years of commercial HVAC or refrigeration service experience preferred.
  • Experience servicing restaurant, retail, or other commercial facilities strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to travel between assigned JJB Brands locations.
  • Ability to use a smartphone, email, and electronic work-order system.
  • Ability to pass applicable background, driving-record, and pre-employment screening requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple service requests and changing priorities.
  • Sound judgment when determining whether equipment should be repaired, replaced, or serviced by an outside vendor.
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and cost control.
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, when required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent JJB Brands professionally.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in confined spaces.
  • Safely climb and work from ladders and access rooftop equipment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and heavier equipment with assistance.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, or otherwise changing weather conditions.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance machinery.
  • Perform work near restaurant equipment, mechanical systems, and active food-service operations.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. The work schedule may vary based on business needs and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call emergency service.
