Position Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a key role in supporting adults ages 18 and older with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or mental health diagnoses. You will assist individuals with daily living activities, skill development, and community participation while fostering a safe and supportive environment. The ability to effectively navigate everyday challenges and behavioral situations is essential. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact each day. Schedules are developed based on program needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household tasks
- Support individuals in building independent living skills and engaging in community activities
- Monitor, document, and report progress, behaviors, and incidents in accordance with program guidelines
- De-escalate crisis situations and remain calm during emergencies
- Administer medications and follow prescribed healthcare plans
- Promote and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families/guardians
- Work assigned overtime as needed to meet program requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in human services, caregiving, or a related field preferred (paid training provided for qualified candidates)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to pass background checks and required clearances
- Obtain DSP Certification (company paid) within six months of employment
