Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior RV Prototype Builder to lead the construction of prototype and concept RVs from the ground up. This hands-on role requires advanced skills in fabrication, woodworking, and full vehicle assembly, including chassis work. The ideal candidate will build complete RV units from drawings and/or concepts, while also leading, training, and mentoring a team of builders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build complete RV prototypes from concept prints and drawings, including full assembly of all structural, interior, and exterior components.
  • Perform cabinetry and woodworking tasks, including the design, construction, and installation of custom cabinets, furniture, and interior fixtures.
  • Carry out chassis work and structural assembly as required during prototype development.
  • Perform welding operations on steel and aluminum (MIG/TIG) in all positions when needed (preferred but not required).
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies from drawings or concepts without the use of fixtures, demonstrating strong problem-solving and technical ability.
  • Plan, route, install, and repair electrical components on prototypes and mockups; diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Lead, coordinate, and train team members on fabrication techniques, assembly processes, and best practices.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to support skill development and craftsmanship.
  • Prioritize workflow based on production demands and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret floorplans, layouts, and engineering data using Teamcenter and other systems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and wearing required PPE.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience building or assembling RVs, trailers, or similar complex vehicles.
  • Strong woodworking and cabinet-making skills with the ability to build and install finished cabinetry and interior components.
  • Experience with full vehicle assembly, including structural and chassis work.
  • Ability to fabricate parts and assemblies from drawings or verbal concepts with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, air tools, rivet guns, grinders, and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with electrical installation and troubleshooting on vehicles or prototypes.
  • Ability to read and interpret floorplans, layouts, and engineering documentation.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and train others while fostering a collaborative team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Welding experience (MIG and/or TIG) on steel and aluminum.
  • Previous experience in an RV manufacturing or prototype development environment.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain

 

Tools & Equipment Used

  • Hand tools and powered hand tools (drills, impacts, grinders, sanders, rivet guns, air hammers)
  • MIG and TIG welding equipment (if certified)
  • Plasma cutters
  • Mechanical and digital measuring tools
  • Basic computer systems for reviewing drawings and documentation
  • Forklifts (if certified)
  • Required PPE (welding jackets, gloves, protective eyewear)
