JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide support in the Guest Dining Department with a special emphasis on baking and kitchen production. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepares and bakes a variety of breads, pastries, cookies, and desserts according to established recipes and production schedules. 
  • Maintains the bakery area, ovens, and prep stations in a neat, clean, and sanitary condition. 
  • Assists in food preparation for meals and special events as needed. 
  • Ensures baked goods are presented attractively and meet Forest Home’s quality standards. 
  • Monitors ingredient inventory and reports shortages to the supervisor. 
  • Follows proper food safety, labeling, and storage procedures. 
  • Operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. 
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions as assigned. 
  • Actively supports and participates in staff spiritual life activities, including Staff Devotions and Staff Retreat. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service or Hospitality Supervisor. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous baking or food service experience preferred.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and tools. Requires heavy physical work, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds Requires visual acuity to read recipes and measurements and the ability to communicate clearly in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

Work involves exposure to kitchen elements such as heat, steam, food odors, and cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud during meal preparation.
