POSITION SUMMARYÂ
Responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, or overhauling Company trucks in a safe and efficient mannerÂ
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSÂ
- Ensures that all Company trucks are in a safe and operable conditionÂ
- Repairs Company trucks (and other Company equipment) in a timely fashion to ensure on-time delivery of customer freightÂ
- Promotes shop safety and always follows Company safety policies and procedures Â
- Performs preventive maintenance on Company trucks (fluid changes, cleaning, lubrication, and other routine
maintenance work)Â - Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as
computerized testing equipment and calibration devices - Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gaugesÂ
- Replaces damaged or worn partsÂ
- Reads and understands operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawingsÂ
- Tests mechanical products and equipment on the truck after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and FMCSR & D.O.T.Â
- Assembles gear systems and aligns frames and gearsÂ
- Repairs brake systemsÂ
- Repairs HVAC systemsÂ
- Repairs electrical systemsÂ
- Welds/solders broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders and soldering toolsÂ
- Cleans parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solventÂ
- Adjusts, maintains, and repairs/replaces subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.Â
- Completes the required paperwork and/or logs in a timely manner (work orders and invoices)Â
- Cleans and maintains the shopÂ
- Assists drivers with breakdown questions/concerns in a professional and courteous mannerÂ
- Treats all drivers with dignity and respectÂ
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed by SupervisorÂ

Requirements
 POSITION QUALIFICATIONSÂ
  EducationÂ
 High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)Â
 ExperienceÂ
 1 or more year’s diesel technician experience is requiredÂ
 Must have demonstrated knowledge of truck repair (engines, brakes, A/C, etc.)Â
CertificationsÂ
A/C Certification, air brake certification, and diesel certification all desired but not requiredÂ
Participation in the ASE certification process desired  Â
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES Â
Must have own toolsÂ
CDL (Commercial Driver’s License Class A) strongly desiredÂ
Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English languageÂ
Ability to pay close attention to detail and willing to double check all work prior to signing off on itÂ
Excellent time management skills Â
