ASE is looking for a Lead Network Infrastructure Technician (Fiber/Copper) that will work onsite in Ft. Belvoir, VA. This role requires a TS/SCI and the person in this position will be responsible for conducting network infrastructure site surveys, planning, and design, providing expert installation management for IT cable plant projects, leading and providing guidance to the team, and complying with contract requirements (e.g., deliverables). This role serves as a contractor Team Lead overseeing a team of Network Infrastructure Technicians for the installation, de-installation, maintenance, and documentation of telecommunications equipment and supporting infrastructure across a variety of environments including data centers, equipment rooms, communications closets, operations centers, and end-user workspaces.Â
Responsibilities
- Technical:
- Conduct site surveys and develop network infrastructure plans while providing oversight for CONUS and OCONUS cable plant fielding efforts, producing recommendations on hardware, cabling, pathways, and equipment requirements, and supporting capability fielding, briefings, and the synchronization of hardware, software, and training schedules.
- Create materials lists, bills of materials, installation timelines, and installation team requirements, including tracking on-hand material inventory.
- Lead and execute installation projects, ensuring proper documentation of project status and milestones, including technical documents and tracking and updating service or change requests via ServiceNow.
- Plan, build, install, and terminate cable patch panels and cable infrastructures, including all forms of standard copper cable and fiber optic cable.
- Maintain existing TTPs and SOPs; assist Government personnel in developing new procedures and incorporating industry best practices.
- Train new employees as they join the team and developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with the customer, fellow Team Leads, Program Manager, and their team.
- Leadership:
- Manage a team of 10-20 direct report employees; supervises, trains, and mentors all contractor personnel
- Plan, build, install, and terminate cable patch panels and cable infrastructures, including all forms of standard copper cable and fiber optic cable.
- Create recurring status update deliverables for the Program Manager and create technical reports as required by the Government Lead.
- Maintain courteous and professional rapport; communicates clearly and respectfully with customers, teammates, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Ten (10) or more years of Infrastructure Installation experience if used in lieu of formal education, as reflected in resume or
- Associate’s Degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant experience or
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 4 years of relevant experience or
- Master’s Degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Current Active TS/SCI clearance (as recorded in DISS).
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent and in possession of, or ability to obtain, a U.S. Passport.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, installation techniques, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend over, reach into tight spaces to complete work, and lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish between different colors (e.g., red, green, and yellow wiring/indicators).
Desired Qualifications:Â Â
- BICSI Certification (RCDD) or DoD Basic Installers Course.
- Three (3) years managing a team of 10+ employees.
- Experience working alongside military, DoD civilians, or defense contractors.Â
