POSITION SUMMARY: The Class B CDL Yard Associate is responsible for the transportation of product and cargo over various distances and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the yard. They are also responsible for operating the forklift.


Pay: $27-$29 an hr DOE


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate Class B trucks and other large vehicles to transport cargo over various distances.

• Travel to local areas making business deliveries; may travel long distances.

• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is working well.

• Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Inspect loads to ensure

that cargo is secure.

• Maintain logs of working hours following applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintain logs of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal

regulations.

• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage.

• Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.

• Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.

• Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with

state regulations.

• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing

minor repairs.

• Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS)

equipment to exchange necessary information with service centers or supervisors.

• Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading using special loading-related

equipment or other equipment as necessary.

• Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.

• Give directions to workers at the location on packing goods and moving them onto trailers.

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks,

delivery vehicles, or containers by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.

• Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Three years of Class B CDL driving experience
  • Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving procedures
  • Experience with strapping/securement
  • Registered with FMCSA clearinghouse
  • Knowledge of Electronic Logging requirements, GPS systems, and ability to read maps
  • Clean driving record and diligent attention to safety
  • Donkey forklift experience is preferred but not needed
