Position Summary
Youth Sport Camps Counselors help lead fun, active summer programs across a variety of sports and activities. Counselors are selected for their coaching skills, sports knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication to making a positive impact on kids. They guide daily camp activities, support camper safety and enjoyment, and contribute to a caring, energetic team focused on creating a memorable summer experience for every child. YSC SPUR Camps run June 1–August 14 (no camps the week of June 29) at the Johnson Recreation Center and CSU Spur campus.
Counselors may work 40hrs/week, must be available M – F from 9:30am – 5:30pm
It is not necessary to work every week, but full weeks are required
As a staff member with CSU Youth Sport Camps, you will be acting as a mandated reporter. This position requires, by law, the reporting of any suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities

Required Job Qualifications​​
Demonstrate knowledge of specific sports or movement
Demonstrate integrity, honesty, dependability, responsibility
Ability to actively participate and engage with campers in all activities.
Able to stand and walk on uneven outdoor terrain for extended periods.
Comfortable in the water; must provide active supervision during pool sessions.
Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, crouch, and climb when assisting campers and setting up equipment.
Capacity to maintain high energy, enthusiasm, and alertness throughout the day.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Playing or coaching experience in specific sport(s) or movement
Work cohesively with other camp counselors
Use available resources to manage campers and situations
Demonstrate situational judgement, motivate and encourage participation to work towards a shared purpose
Essential Duties
Management of camp including creating camp itinerary, organizing equipment, running drills and games or matches, monitoring campers
Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, and communicate changes in work schedule
