Job Summary

Responsible for granulation, drying, cooling and sifting of granular Threonine in preparation for packaging, which includes operating the production process and equipment using computer software, collecting and processing samples, inspecting equipment and performing troubleshooting or repair as necessary.Ā 

Essential Job Functions



  • Control the mixing and granulation of threonine prior to drying
  • Monitor threonine dryer and cooler temperatures, differential pressures and air flow to ensure final product is within specifications
  • Ensure sifter and crusher operation is efficient by scraping sifter screens as scheduledĀ 
  • Inspect equipment and area for cleanliness and normal operating conditions
  • Collect samples and perform testing to verify the final product moisture content, product color and particle size are within specifications
  • Perform confined space entry in order to Clean In Place (CIP) all equipment as needed
  • Monitor and operate the assigned process using HMI control software
  • Accurately and legibly record process and sample data
  • The above responsibilities will primarily be for the threonine dryer (B) system, but helping the dryer operator #1 with the dryer (A) or dryer (C) systems is expected as needed.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assignedĀ

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position works 12-hour shifts (36 / 48 hours per week alternating, rotating nights & days every 4 weeks), which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.Ā 
  • This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, dust, water.
  • This position regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 30% of shift, standing, walking extended distances, ascending/descending stairs extended distances, close/distance vision. Occasionally requires confined space entry, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
