Position Overview
TAP Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineering Technician to join our team in support of mission-critical systems at Fort Meade. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, technically challenging environments and take pride in delivering reliable, high-impact support to Government customers.

The Engineering Technician provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 system support for large-scale computer systems, with a focus on hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle support. This role also includes managing board-level processes, coordinating with on-site and off-site depots, and performing fault isolation to ensure continuous system availability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for large-scale computer systems
  • Assemble, disassemble, maintain, upgrade, and ship system hardware and components
  • Troubleshoot and isolate hardware, system, and application faults
  • Monitor system health and operational status using Government-provided tools, including power, cooling, and application monitoring systems
  • Detect and respond to hardware or application failures using monitoring tools and system status displays
  • Assist with software upgrades and support maintenance teams in resolving software defects, as directed by the Government
  • Perform unit testing, lifecycle support activities, and transition systems to operational status
  • Track system issues, provide real-time alerts, and communicate status updates to support teams
  • Prepare daily pass-down reports, maintain operational metrics, and submit monthly status reports
  • Coordinate with Government and contractor facilities personnel to ensure uninterrupted system operations
  • Participate in required training, familiarization activities, and team integration meetings
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
  • Experience supporting Tier 2 and Tier 3 system operations
  • Hands-on experience with system and component assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and shipping
  • Experience performing unit testing, lifecycle support, and operational transitions
  • Ability to monitor and assess the health and performance of large-scale computer systems
  • Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and isolate hardware and system failures
  • Strong documentation, communication, and reporting skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Government and contractor personnel

Clearance Requirement
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, based on a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI/SBI). Clearance and polygraph processing will be completed by the U.S. Government.
