Job Overview:

Assists HVAC Technicians in the course of their duties of Preventive Maintenance and in troubleshooting and repair. Desired experience three (3) years. HVAC course of study as the Associates Level or equivalent may substitute for experience requirement. Employees must receive their EPA refrigerant recovery certification within six months of employment. Must be punctual and possess the ability to do or learn silver brazing after instructed and setup by a higher skilled employee

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

(Not limited to duties as described – performs related duties as requested)

· Assist HVAC Technicians in the course of their duties of Preventive Maintenance and in troubleshooting and repair and assist under supervision: all HVAC required periodic maintenance, repair, perform equipment removal and installation functions.

· Learns from HVAC Technician and other sources HVAC system trouble shooting techniques.

· Will assist HVAC Technician, the LPG applications, and will assist on and around refrigerants.

· Performs operator maintenance on assigned vehicle.

· Follows safety procedures and ensure in assisting HVAC Technician that quality control standards are achieved.

· Provides customer assistance in a proficient and professional manner.

· Inspect and make recommendations to the Certified HVAC Technician repair and service requirements of all HVAC systems.

· Will use hand and various power tools necessary to perform HVAC service and repair functions.

· Maintain an accurate inventory of required tools and equipment.

· Obtains parts, tools and equipment as assigned to complete task (s) as assigned to complete tasks at work site.

· Perform general housekeeping inside, outside and in and work site.

· Participation in all APTIM/HDSS EHS and Quality procedures.

· Must be able to act professionally in the presence of the public and co-workers.

· Must be able to accurately track time, work orders, and parts using electronic devices.

 

Basic Qualifications:

· Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.

· Two years’ experience working in the HVAC field at any level. One (1) year of a formal HVAC course of instruction will be credited towards one year of experience. Or substation of two-year Degree or equivalent course of study for HVAC experience requirement.

· Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.

· Accurate measuring abilities and proper use of hand and power tools.

· Provide input to higher skilled help and to supervisor.

· Must have the ability and desire to learn.

· Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

· Capable of receiving written and/or verbal instructions and performing tasks.

Wage Rates & Union Benefits

Wage rates and fringe benefits for this position are governed by terms of a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the company and a union with jurisdiction for the job location.

CBAs for union projects typically include a retirement plan (such as a pension, annuity, or 401(k)), health insurance (e.g., medical, dental, vision), and other benefits. APTIM pays the costs for some fringe benefit plans for employees working on union projects. Under some CBAs, however, you may be required to contribute a percentage of your wages toward the cost of these benefits.

Additionally, you may also qualify for paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid vacation, and supplemental insurance plans (e.g., life, short-term disability, long-term disability). The CBA contains the terms and conditions of eligibility as well as information about any costs to you.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $34.59 per hour.
