POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACTÂ
Moss’ Solar Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer, Civil, will work in concert with the Engineering Services team to ensure that all digital files and drawings are aligned across different disciplines. Cross-functional problem-solving is a key component of the everyday responsibilities of this role. Additionally, this position will be responsible for reviewing drawings from multiple engineers, along with other digital design files.Â

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ Â
Be familiar with utility-scale solar project designs, including civil and structural plans, and equipment layout. Â
Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems. Â
Ability to review the scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements. Â
Own portions of the project lifecycle — from design to construction support. Â
Analyze geotechnical reports and hydrology reports to evaluate site conditions, soil composition, water drainage patterns, and other relevant factors that impact construction projects. Â
Estimate on-site grading volumes by utilizing Civil3D, survey data, and engineering drawings to calculate quantities of earthwork required for site preparation and grading operations. Â
Estimate volumes for stormwater retention features, such as ponds and basins, considering project specifications, local regulations, and environmental considerations. Â
Collaborate with field teams, including engineers and construction crews, to assist with the development of earthwork and foundation plans, ensuring compliance with design requirements and site-specific constraints. Â
Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams on geotechnical and hydrological matters, addressing any challenges or issues that may arise during the construction phase. Â
Conduct site visits and inspections to assess soil conditions and verify compliance with project specifications. Â
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and relevant regulations to ensure continuous improvement in practices and compliance. Â
Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment of project objectives and optimal integration of geotechnical and hydrological considerations. Â
Provide mentorship and support to junior team members on the Engineering Team for a Senior-level Project Engineer. Â
Comfortable traveling cross-country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams. Â
Support field teams with various technical requests. Â
Perform other duties as assigned. Â

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCEÂ Â
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline is required - a civil and environmental engineering degree is preferred.  Â
0-1+ years' experience for a Project Engineer and 2+ years’ experience for a Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required. Â
Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and methods of construction in power systems. Â
Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation. Â
Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards. Â
Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Excel is required. Â
Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Â
Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once. Â
Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software is a plus. Â
