Description

Job Summary

The Manager of Quality and Risk - Broward will oversee and manage initiatives related to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management. This role is dedicated to the Broward market and will be part of and supported by the Quality Division.

Job Specific Duties

  • Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates department goals that align with the hospital goals on a yearly basis. 
  • Develops, implements, and monitors quality improvement programs to enhance quality, safety and patient experience. 
  • Acts as resource person to administrative team and department leaders.  Ensures clinical risk management functions are coordinated.  
  • Communicates the department's needs, requirements, available services and information to internal and external customers. 
  • Maintains oversight responsibility for all performance improvement activities conducted throughout the institution. 
  • Leads efforts to promote a culture of safety; Investigate safety events and ensure that root cause analysis is completed. 
  • Ensures and complies with all standards for safety, risk management, and infection control as required by state and other accreditation and regulatory agencies. 
  • Implements and directs a cost effective risk/quality management program for the Hospital and off site facilities. 
  • Ensures standards, provides training and enforces compliance of departmental hospital customer service programs. 
  • Oversees or directly supervises department staff, including hiring, firing, orientation, training and evaluation within established guidelines, and maintains a department staffing plan that meets organizational needs. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of respective department, to provide consistent quality/risk services to internal and external customers. 
  • Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special projects both internal and external to the organization. 
  • Performs all fiscal responsibilities according to hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • RN - Registered Nurse RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) – maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)c certification required within 18 months of hire.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a management/ supervisory position
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and/or Risk Management activities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • CPHQ preferred at time of hire.
  • Five years clinical experience in a hospital setting, pediatrics preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable Florida/federal statutes.
  • Experience in quality improvement, clinical risk management, and patient safety.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and statistics.
  • Skilled in quality improvement tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of Peer Review practices.
  • Knowledge of clinical pathways.
  • Knowledge of internal and public quality score-carding and benchmarking.
  • Demonstrated expertise in promoting patient safety in a complex environment.
  • Experienced in developing/implementing standardization.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers.
  • Effectively monitor and develop the abilities of subordinates.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to prioritize work and evaluate workload in order to meet deadlines
