Position Summary:Â
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Hematology/Oncology team. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in Hematology/Oncology and will work collaboratively under the supervision of multiple Oncologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The right candidate will possess the versatility to effectively practice across inpatient, outpatient, and infusion center environments. Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
Inpatient:Â
Conduct comprehensive assessments including history, physical examinations, interpretation of diagnostic studies.Â
Acute management of hematology and oncology patients in the inpatient settingÂ
Evaluate and triage new consults Â
Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing Â
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physiciansÂ
Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and medication managementÂ
Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and discharge planning Â
Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties. Â
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record Â
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards. Â
Infusion:Â Â
Evaluate patients prior to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive infusionsÂ
Ensure treatment readiness, including lab review, toxicity assessment, and performance status evaluation. Â
Authorize and manage treatment plans in accordance with clinical protocolsÂ
Identify and manage infusion-related reactions and adverse eventsÂ
Collaborate with pharmacy and infusion nursing to ensure safe and effective therapy deliveryÂ
Outpatient Oncology Clinic:Â
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.Â
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with medical oncologists.Â
Monitor disease progression, treatment response, and symptom burdenÂ
Prescribe and adjust oncology therapies, supportive medications, and symptom management regimens.Â
Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-up visits. Â
Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing Â
Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and medication managementÂ
Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties. Â
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record Â
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.Â
Qualifications:Â
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner ProgramÂ
National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.Â
Â
Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida. Â
Â
AONCP CertificationÂ
Â
BLS/ACLSÂ
Â
Preferred Skills:Â
2 years of Oncology ExperienceÂ
Experience in Bone Marrow Biopsies a plusÂ
Experience with Epic Electronic Medical RecordÂ
