What You Will Do:

At Independent Software, as a Cryptologic Cyber Planner Level 2, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of cyber operations across mission-critical environments. You will work with operational teams and mission partners to translate mission objectives into actionable cyber plans aligned with policy, doctrine, and operational requirements.

In this role, you will contribute to strategic and operational planning, help assess mission requirements, develop courses of action, and support the coordination of offensive and defensive cyberspace operations. You will collaborate with cyber operators and planners to help ensure effective, integrated, and mission-aligned cyber operations.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and coordinate cyberspace operations across organizations and mission partners
  • Support the synchronization of joint cyberspace activities with strategic and operational objectives
  • Apply joint planning principles and JP 3-12 to cyberspace operations
  • Develop and support operational planning products, including OPLANs, OPORDs, CONOPs, and related documentation
  • Apply the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) and Joint Operational Planning Process-Cyber (JOPP-C)
  • Integrate Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO) and Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) into broader multi-domain campaigns
  • Support planning involving DODIN operations, DCO, and OCO
  • Develop Cryptologic and Functional Support Plans (CSP/FSP) and CONOPs
  • Develop and evaluate courses of action (COAs) based on operational directives
  • Collaborate with cyber operators and mission partners to support complex operational requirements
  • Support operational planning, coordination, and mission execution

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Experience supporting cyber operations planning at the strategic and/or operational level
  • Understanding of DODIN operations, Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO), and Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO)
  • Knowledge of joint planning principles and JP 3-12
  • Experience developing or supporting OPLANs, OPORDs, CONOPs, and other operational planning products
  • Understanding of JOPP and/or JOPP-C
  • Experience developing or evaluating courses of action (COAs)
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cyber operators, planners, and mission partners
  • Strong analytical, planning, written, and verbal communication skills

The following experience is highly preferred:
 
  • Formal cyber planning or certification training, such as Cyber Operations Planners Course (COPC), Joint Cyber Operational Planners Course (JCOPC), or equivalent training
  • Experience within joint, operational, or mission-focused cyber environments
  • Experience supporting a combatant command or coordinating through the Joint Targeting Cycle
  • Experience developing courses of action based on high-level operational directives
  • Experience conducting or supporting assessments or tabletop exercises


Education and Experience:

Candidates must meet one of the following:

 
  • High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree plus seven (7) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Master’s degree plus three (3) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Doctoral degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience

A degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related field is preferred; however, a degree in any field is acceptable.

Relevant experience must be in an area directly related to national security, defense, cyber, collection, intelligence, or a similar mission and include strategic and/or operational-level planning, such as joint operations.

External engagement and collaboration experience, including participation in cross-organizational working groups, field assignments, or external customer support, is preferred.


Clearance Requirement:
 
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
