What You Will Do:

As a Reverse Engineer, Level 2 at Independent Software, you will analyze malicious software supporting global cyber threat investigations. You will perform malware analysis and reverse engineering to understand malicious code, identify behaviors and capabilities, and provide technical findings that support mission operations.

This position requires strong malware and reverse engineering knowledge, proficiency with IDA Pro and/or Ghidra, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform static and dynamic analysis of malicious software
  • Reverse engineer malware and binaries to determine functionality and behavior
  • Use IDA Pro and/or Ghidra to analyze malicious code
  • Analyze malware associated with global cyber threats
  • Identify malware behaviors, capabilities, and communication mechanisms
  • Analyze command-and-control (C2) activity, persistence techniques, and other malicious functionality
  • Identify Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and relevant tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Analyze obfuscation, packing, and anti-analysis techniques
  • Document technical findings and provide actionable analysis
  • Collaborate with cyber analysts and mission teams to support threat investigations
  • Conduct technical analysis independently with minimal supervision

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Experience with malware analysis and reverse engineering
  • Proficiency with IDA Pro and/or Ghidra
  • Experience performing static and dynamic malware analysis
  • Knowledge of assembly language and binary analysis
  • Understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating system internals
  • Knowledge of malware behaviors and techniques
  • Experience identifying IOCs and analyzing C2 communications
  • Ability to analyze obfuscation and anti-analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Education and Experience:

Candidates must meet one of the following:

 
  • Doctoral degree with two (2) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Master's degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate degree with seven (7) years of relevant experience
Degree must be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.

Relevant experience must include malware reverse engineering, cyber threat analysis, or closely related technical experience.

Certifications: 

One of the following is required:
  • CISSP
  • GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM)
  • CREA Certification


Clearance Requirement:
 
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
