Position Summary

ValCorp is seeking an Automotive Worker to perform minor repairs and preventive services that keep motor vehicles clean, safe, and mission-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain vehicle decals; check and replace batteries; rotate, repair, and replace tires.
  • Wash, polish, and clean vehicle interiors and exteriors.
  • Drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission, and differential lubricants.
  • Check, clean, calibrate, and replace spark plugs; clean and replace oil and air filters.
  • Adjust brakes and replace windshield wipers and other minor parts.
  • Assist with major overhaul work by disassembling and cleaning parts and repairing or replacing approved components.
  • Perform work in accordance with the applicable technical manual and use automotive tools correctly.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of vehicle-maintenance experience through schooling or verifiable on-the-job experience.
  • Valid and current state driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain site forklift and other required licenses or certifications.
  • Ability to understand and use technical manuals and complete vehicle-maintenance paperwork.
  • Ability to safely manipulate hand tools and hydraulic equipment and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must provide and maintain their own General Mechanics Toolbox suitable for performing all assigned maintenance and repair duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining military tactical vehicles, lawn equipment, ATVs, side-by-sides, HMMWVs, and light wheeled trailers.
  • ASE and/or diesel mechanic certification.
  • Experience with field repairs and recovery operations.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and use proper lifting practices.
  • Ability to climb in and out of vehicles of various sizes and heights and work at heights when required.
  • Work may occur outdoors in extreme temperatures, high humidity, rain, and blowing dust.
  • Work may involve prolonged stooping, climbing, standing, or sitting and exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels.

Additional Employment Information

  • This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement applicable at Fort Polk.
  • Second-shift premium is $0.75 per hour and third-shift premium is $1.25 per hour when applicable.
  • The selected employee must comply with applicable safety rules, use required Personal Protective Equipment, and maintain required licenses or certifications.
