Valiant is looking for a Network Computer System Admin I to join our team!  This position is a full time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC)Support Contract. The Network Computer System Administrator I supports the operation, maintenance, and sustainment of the JNN and the overall JRTC Integrated Training Networks requirement. This role works closely with the Computer Systems Administrator II and Network Administrator II to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient network operations for OPS Group (OPS GRP) networks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide preventive maintenance and administration of JNN.
  • Assist the Computer Systems Administrator II in daily network operations for OPS GRP networks.
  • Work with Network Administrator II to maintain, upgrade, and optimize network infrastructure.
  • Provide customer support to troubleshoot issues that arise during the use of the system by units and other users of the JNN network.
  • Perform data collection for performance evaluation, while being responsible for connectivity of the infrastructure for rotational training.
  • Design, configure, and maintain network monitoring tools and conducts trend analysis of the network.
  • Network Management performs data collection for performance evaluation, while being responsible for connectivity of the infrastructure for rotational training.
  • Create monitoring reports and manage equipment logs; ensure the functionality of links.
  • Identify, analyze, and document long-range requirements and administer resources related to the enterprise network.
  • Prepare technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines and critical paths required for complete solutions.
  • Research applicable standards and requirements documentation to assure network compliance.
  • Plan for and provide reasonable responsiveness in terms of network performance (e.g., availability, reliability, and throughput).
  • Prepare activity and progress reports for the Government regarding network performance initiatives.
  • Enforce system access, operation, maintenance, and disposition requirements.
  • Maintain industry certification in accordance with DOD 8570.01-M and DODD 8140.01 for IAT Level II
  • Assist and provide technical support to Technology Support/Trainers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SECURITY CLEARANCE:  Active Secret
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years performing Network Administration, DoD experience preferred
  • 3+ years of Network administration experience.
  • Experience in network/system administration in an enterprise or DoD/government environment.
  • Working knowledge of LAN technologies, routing/switching, and network security principles.
  • Experience with system installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance for networked systems.
  • Ability to analyze network logs, troubleshoot complex issues, and document resolutions.
  • Familiarity with backup, recovery, and archiving procedures.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other administrators and support staff in a mission-critical environment.
  • Proficiency with Cisco command line interface (CLI) for configuration and troubleshooting of network devices.
  • Experience supporting JNN, tactical networks, or training network environments.
  • Prior military or government contracting experience.

 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • CompTia Security+ 
  • Computing Environment certification within 6 months of hire, Active certification preferred
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft, VMware, etc.).

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Position: Office environment, occasionally outdoors.

Work Week:  Monday-Friday (will vary based on mission requirements) 

Work Hours:  8 hour shift (will vary based on mission requirements) 

Overtime:  As Required 

Travel: As Required           

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degreees.
