This is a salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package offered by Sioux Manufacturing Corporation (SMC).

401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Starting on first day of employment you will immediately get on the 401(k) plan along with:
    • SMC contributes 3% of each employee's gross weekly pay to their 401(k) account.
  • In addition, SMC offers a company match of up to 5%



POSITION SUMMARY
Apply engineering tools & techniques to support production operations and the development of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manufacturing support and troubleshooting processes and equipment.
  • Review Technical Data Packages and determine the necessary materials, manpower, equipment, and tooling for manufacturing operations.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to promote efficient utilization of resources. 
  • Prepare engineering documentation such as Engineering Masters, Material Specifications and Process Documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules to track progress of equipment, tooling, materials, and processes.
  • Initiate and participate in Lean Manufacturing and other programs focusing on continuous improvement of processes and methods.
  • Programming of production equipment.
  • Complete studies on material usages, labor standards and updating plant layouts.
  • Provide internal training for personnel in the operation and performance of new or modified equipment and processes. 
  • Interface and communication with internal and external sources as required to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Support and participate in quality management related activities such as root cause investigation, corrective action implementation, preventive action projects, non-conformance review and continuous improvement efforts. 


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments and applicable programs through attendance at technical meetings and general research.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by department manager.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resources allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, which includes assessing customer needs and meeting quality standards.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and determine what is urgent or important.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Basic computer knowledge required (i.e., email and word processing experience).
  • The use of a PC workstation and an individual email account is required.
  • Working knowledge of common software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database).
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent 2-D drafting software, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project management software. 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or associate's degree in an Engineering Technology discipline and 2 years of manufacturing experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, preferred.
