GENERAL STATEMENT:

This position serves as a Pharmacy Technician with Warm Valley Health Care. The pharmacy technicians work autonomously, using independent judgement to perform a full range of duties. Assist the Pharmacist in providing optimal care and timely service in accordance with the mission, vision, and goals of the Warm Valley Health Care and Pharmacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately interpret, fill, and prepare prescriptions with appropriate medications and/or medical supplies for the Pharmacist verification.
  • Orders and procures drugs; receives drug shipments, maintains pharmacy stock and clinic drug stocks; properly stores drugs.
  • Promptly and professionally answers telephones to assist patients.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition by assuring that all stock and equipment is in assigned places and all shelves and counters are free of dust and debris in order to create an optional work area.
  • Record expiration dates in the automatic prescription dispensing system upon receipt.
  • Perform monthly inspections to assigned areas (in pharmacy, Omnicell, and crash carts) to ensure proper storage of medications and soon to expire drugs are removed.
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on ScriptPro robot.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under a variety of circumstances to maximize group productivity and quality.
  • Completes all National, local, and Pharmacy mandatory training in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all Warm Valley Health Care, and Pharmacy regulations, directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Assemble prescription properly with correct drug, strength, quantity, auxiliary labels, and prescription labels for dispensing.
  • Verify that patient receives the correct prescription by using ScriptPro software.
  • Package prescriptions correctly, as to assure packages are not damaged with in transit.
  • Perform searches, collect and update patient information.

Controlled Substances Activities (when applicable)

  • Document all controlled substance items in automated secured cabinets (i.e. OmniCell) in pharmacy or throughout clinic as assigned.
  • Ensure that proper handoffs occur when receiving or delivering controlled substances, assuring that at all times these medications are never left unsecured.
  • Report unresolvable discrepancies to immediate supervisor for resolution. Assist with investigating, witnessing, and resolving discrepancies.
  • If licensed through the State of Wyoming, could potentially become pharmacist designee to generate prescription drug monitoring program reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D.), required.
  • Certification preferred but not currently required, this is subject to change as the clinic's mission may evolve.

Preference will be given to qualified Eastern Shoshone tribal members, then other qualified federally recognized Indian tribal members and then other qualified candidates.

  • Applicants must submit a copy of Tribal Enrollment card or CIB for Indian Preference.
  • Veterans who meet the minimum qualifications and provide documentation of an honorable discharge (DD214) from any branch of military service are entitled to receive preference points during the interview process.

Any offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test, reference checks and background check. Refusal to undergo required testing or testing positive will render the applicant ineligible for employment.
